The Flower Market

The Flower Market

The Flower Market in Amsterdam is the only floating flower market in the world. Founded in 1862, it is sited in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on Singel between Muntplein and King Square in the city’s southern canal belt. Whether you have the hopes of purchasing flowers or just simply want to be surrounded by natural beauty at every turn, make your way here for a morning or afternoon filled with all of that and so much more.

Way back in the day, the flowers were in fact brought by boat to all of the different shops and buyers. However, obviously nowadays, the flowers are brought by vans but are still situated on the floating barges.

There are a total of fifteen different florist and garden shops that you can mosey through as well as a few shops that offer some great souvenirs to fill your suitcase with. The Flower Market is opened every day of the week from 9 AM to 5:30 PM as well as on Sundays from 11 AM to 5:30 PM. If you happen to be there during the holiday season in winter, then you will get the chance to see dozens of colorful Christmas trees of all sizes. The floating flower market at the Singel Canal is one of the most colorful and fragrant places of interest of Amsterdam in all four seasons!
