Amsterdam Arena

Amsterdam Arena

The Amsterdam Arena was built in the years 1993 to 1996 and located in Amsterdam. The Amsterdam Arena is the largest stadium in the Netherlands and officially opened on August 14, 1996. The main uses of the arena have been for American football, association football, and concerts among others from time to time. With a capacity to hold 53,502 people for events like football matches and a seating total of 35,000-68,000 for concerts (depending on the type and stage placement), it is safe to say that there is no coming close to its massive size in Amsterdam.

Since 1996 – the year it opened – the stadium has been home to the association football club, also known as AFC Ajax and was the home of the American football club Amsterdam Admirals from 1997 to 2007. Big events that have taken place within the stadium throughout the years include Euro 2000, the 1998 EUFA Champions Final League, Euro 2020 and the 2013 EUFA Europa League Final.
Today, there are several events that continue to take place and are all worth checking out throughout the year. Depending on the season in which you visit Amsterdam, there could be either sporting events of concert events, so be sure to check the events calendar. If you would rather explore the stadium through a tour, there are also daily ones that take place!
