Schiphol Airport is the main international airport of the Netherlands and a major airport in Europe. Located just 9.1 kilometers southwest of the city within the North Holland province, it is easy to reach Amsterdam and includes fantastic public transportation right into the city center.

If you are simply having a long layover at Schiphol, you may soon realize that there is a nearly endless list of things to see, do and discover while there! As the fifth busiest airport in Europe, you can rest assured that the shopping, dining and entertaining aspects of the airport will keep you far from bored!

If you have a layover of 3 or more hours, you can certainly enjoy many of the great things that the large terminal has to offer. There are dozens of shops, which are all located within walking distance of each other and stay open until approximately 10 pm each night.

Once you have your fair share of shopping bags in hand, grab a seat at one of the several great restaurants, cafes or bars to enjoy excellent food and drinks. If you want to rest or shower up, take advantage of either the rented rooms or free public shower rooms! For entertainment, enjoy the airport’s own museum, library or casino!
