The Royal Palace of Amsterdam is located on the west side of Dam Square, in the very center of the city Amsterdam and was originally built as a city hall during the Dutch Golden Age in the 17th century. Directly next to the Nieuwe Kerk and opposite the War Memorial, it is easy to find and very accessible.

Opened on July 29, 1655 by the mayor of Amsterdam at the time, Cornelis de Graeff, the palace was built on 13,659 wooden piles and cost a total of 8.5 million gulden to construct. Made from a yellowish sandstone from Bentheim, Germany, it has now darkened over time despite the still gorgeous marble within the interior of the building.

Today, guests and visitors of Amsterdam are all able to explore within the Royal Palace and gain a better inside perspective of what it is like. There are several exhibitions constantly being held there and are all a great way to gain a better understanding of the history of the building and what it serves for today.

Guests will find several statues, learn about the hidden stories behind them and of course get the chance to take several fantastic pictures of their journey throughout the entire structure. One of the best ways to do this is by taking a guided tour. Right next to the royal palace, on Dam Square, you will find the 360Amsterdam store, where you can buy your ticket.
